Irrational Confidence
The Most Powerful Dream Wins
Thought
I saw Dave Chappelle live last week.
When I was in junior high, he had a special on HBO called “Killing Them Softly” that made me laugh so hard I almost pissed my pants.
He’s such a legend and the show was hilarious, but he touched on a powerful lesson during the show:
The most powerful dream in the room wins.
He of course turned it into a joke, but every great joke is born from truth.
Many of the greatest men who have ever lived had a sense of their own destiny. They believed in themselves completely and, because of this belief, lived up to their full potential.
This kind of belief is powerful.
The dream of glory is like the first step on a grand journey, but without taking the other 9,999 steps, it’ll turn into delusion.
But you must dream to begin.
I believe there is no downside to starting from irrational confidence in yourself.
You have to believe that you are great to achieve greatness.
Tactic
First impressions are made in about 7 seconds and are incredibly sticky.
Those 7 seconds exert a massive influence on whether or not the person you just met will view you in a positive light, potentially forever.
It’s a good thing to master giving off a good impression if you want to open doors in your life.
After moving to a new city, I’ve been reflecting on how to give a great first impression.
The first thing you should do is dress to impress. The amount of effort it takes to dress like a slob versus dressing like a chad isn’t much, but it has an outsized impact on the way people see you. Who’d of thought that your appearance is directly correlated to how people see you? Crazy.
I’m shocked by how poorly men dress. Spend some money and upgrade your wardrobe. It’s a worthwhile investment.
Now that you have your appearance sorted, the next pro tip is to ooze confidence. This isn’t as hard as it seems. Stand tall and proud. Look people in the eye and smile.
Be sure to perfect your handshake, I won’t even cover the limp handshake here, but also don’t be too aggressive, smooth and firm is the way.
Equipped with these few tactics, the world will be your oyster.
